Road to WrestleMania mode has been modified to include new features such as backstage roaming, mini-quests, and further interaction with other Superstars. These cut scenes appear randomly before, during and even after the match. The mode builds storylines, and integrates cut scenes and rivalries between wrestlers based on the matches that are wrestled. The game's new "WWE Universe" mode replaces the career mode from previous games. Plus, a new feature called "Match Creator" allows players to create new match types. There are new announce table moves like a moonsault from the ring to the prone opponent. The strong grapple modifier has been revamped to allow the player to perform more powerful moves on the opponent as the player progresses into the match and wears down the opponent. Moves and controls are modified to incorporate new options to perform during and after a move is executed. In addition, new ways to exit the cell were introduced, such as barreling through the cage wall.įor the first time since WWE SmackDown! Shut Your Mouth, the player can roam freely around the backstage areas in the game's primary story mode, though the ability to roam during matches has not returned to the series. The Hell in a Cell match was revamped, now with expanded cell walls, weapons underneath the ring, steel steps near the poles, and the removal of the cell door.
This though, is currently available only to the Xbox and PS3 version of the game. For the first time since WWE SmackDown vs RAW, chairs can be thrown at the player's opponents. Inside and outside the ring, ladders can now be rested onto the ring ropes and be broken into pieces. Tables now break differently depending on the impact placed upon them. One of the main changes in the game is the incorporation of a new physics system that allows objects to be used more realistically, such as objects involved in the TLC (Tables, Ladders, and Chairs) match.
It just seems like 2K wasn’t ready or prepared for the step-up to next-gen and made cuts to fill in the cracks. The Tables, Ladders and Chairs match features new ways to use and break objects. This even translates to the wrestling cast with names of the time like Sin Cara and Zach Rider inexplicably not making the cut. The creation mode has been scaled back drastically, with no way to create custom stories, custom belts or even a female wrestler which is baffling, even five years ago.Įven the match types have taken a hit from the previous year’s roster, with matches such as the ‘I Quit’ match, the elimination match and the four-man hell in a cell match all being canned. The whole game has picked the previous sequel for parts. There seems to be a reason why the story mode seemed so simplistic and streamlined. There is the showcase mode that allows you to recreate the most amazing moments in WWE history but even this feels a little stale and some inclusions just seem thoughtless and the omissions seem even more so. A few additional details beyond the necessary and the main plot that is streamlined to the point that it’s oversimplified and just plain boring. What we got, however, was a bland story with a handful of side plots that were uninspired or interesting. Overall it has been a real coming of age story and 2K15 should have been the culmination of all this progress to produce a masterclass in entertainment.
There were different stories for those who chose to be heels. Since 2K took over proceedings in the production of WWE titles, the story mode has been growing in quality ever since, with more intricate details being added, voice acting being on point, sub-stories and feuds being peppered into the main plot, training and publicity were a factor. Occasionally you will have some clipping and physics issues with inanimate objects and weapons but overall, the improvements are welcome. If only they knew what would happen in WWE 2K20. One of which being the various glitches that were present on the PS3 and 360 seemingly being a thing of the past. However, this change in impetus seems to have brought a few fixes to the game.
The controls feel more cumbersome and calculated which in one way provides a sense of realism to the same but on the other hand, it slows the action down and significantly reduces the fun factor. However, it seems with the change to current-gen consoles, a change was also made to the pace with which you fight in this game.
One thing that you could always count on in these games were matches that were fast-paced, frantic and full of action.
At a push, we could say that this game is similar to the UFC game series seeing as the same developer creates this title but nothing really replicates the action present in a licenced WWE title A Change Of Pace
